Innovative Teaching for Psychology Department Open Course
Department of Psychology Open Course students had a different experience on 28.9.18 for their open course ‘Child Development’. It started with a family salad game followed by formation of two concentric circles where students were given themes to discuss. Themes included ‘An important person in your childhood, happy moment in childhood, A story heard in childhood, favourite game in childhood etc..’ With each theme the members moved one step to discuss the next theme with a new partner. Re-living their childhood through this ‘serious game’ they concluded on the important role played by a good family, friends, teachers in the life of a child. The role of a healthy family in the psychological and sociological growth of a child was deeply internalized through this peer interaction and sharing method.
