INTERACTION WITH MONICA WANJIRU AND WUSHU TRAINING

 

WOMEN CELL PROGRAMMES – INTERACTION WITH KENIYAN SOCIAL ACTIVIST MONICA WANJIRU AND WUSHU TRAINING SESSION

 

Women cell, Mahatma Gandhi College organised the programme “Interaction with Monica Wanjiru” on 20/02/2018. The venue of the programme was seminar hall .Dr. Gayathri Devi, Assistant professor; Department of English delivered the welcome address. Dr.Geetha, Associate professor and HOD, Department of Malayalam who was the Principal in charge gave the presidential address. Dr. Anil Kumar and Dr. Biju Kumar gave felicitations.

Keynote address was given by Mrs. Monica Wanjiru. She gave a very inspiring talk by revealing her life experiences in Kenya and her transformation as a social activist. She told about female genital mutilations frequently happening in Kenya and her fights against that. Students interacted well with the speaker. Dr. S.R Jayasree, Convener, Women Cell handled the role of a moderator throughout the interaction in an appreciable manner.  The programme came to an end at 12:30pm.

There was also a self defense art Wushu, demonstrated in the auditorium at 1:30pm. Dr. S.R Jayasree, Convener, Women Cell welcomed the gathering. The programme was organised in association with Department of Physical Education and came to an end by 4pm.
