DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS
Economics is one of the oldest departments of this college. It started functioning in 1948. It offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in economics. There are eight permanent faculty members in the department. Among them five hold PhD degree and others are pursuing research. The minor/major project works (Central Govt/UGC sponsored/ICSSR) undertaken by the faculty members add to the credit of the department. The PG department of economics achieves excellent result in the university examinations, and the department has been successful in securing many ranks in the recent past. The Department library is an empowering unit with more than 5000 books. The department also subscribes around 15 UGC recognised/CARE listed/Peer-reviewed journals. As a part of the innovative teaching methodology, students are given exposure to computer-based skills. The Department is equipped with classrooms to facilitate teaching through modern tools and techniques. The Department has classrooms with Wi-Fi-enabled LCD projectors, tutorial rooms, a library, and a fully equipped seminar hall with a seating capacity of over 50 persons. The Department takes pride in being a differently-abled friendly campus with new ramps, and special washrooms added to the main building. Also, the Department has various facilities to address the reading, hearing, and understanding requirements of various students. The Department is also CCTV-enabled to cater to the safety requirements.
