INDUCTION PROGRAMME 2018

Mahatma Gandhi College has always been keen on imparting most helpful guidelines and productive suggestions to the undergraduate students immediately after they get admitted to the departments. Every year students are made to assemble in the college auditorium before they start their academic life in the very first semester. The induction programme for the 2018-2021 batch was held on 18-07-2018 (Wednesday).

The programme started at  10 AM with a prayer and Acharya Anusmaranam by Akhila.V.S, a student of the Postgraduate Department of Hindi.Dr. M.S Anilkumar, IQAC Convenor, welcomed the dignitaries and the students, and presided over the function. He gave a brief introduction to the history and infrastructure of MG College. The inaugural address by Dr.Sujatha T.S., the Principal of the College, covered a wide variety of relevant information like the policies of the College in the matters of punctuality, attendance, academics, obedience to parents and teachers, overall discipline, etc. Dr. R.L. Sakthi Babu, the Convenor of the Discipline Committee, read out the rules and regulations regarding the most elementary aspects like dress code, ban on activities of political organizations inside the campus and attendance. He elaborated on the need of keeping the college premises beautiful and hygienic. Dr. P. Geetha, who heads the Anti Ragging Cell of the College, provided an awareness regarding the laws against ragging inside the campus. She encouraged the students to lodge complaints before the concerned authorities if at all they fall victims to ragging by fellow students. She listed out the different statutory methods to be opted by a victim to place her/his complaints against an instance of ragging. Dr. V.M. Anandakumar, the Secretary , College Council, provided the students with a class on Choice Based Credit and Semester System (CBCSS). The students were introduced to the syllabi, continuous evaluation (CE), pattern of question papers for the end semester examinations, electives and calculation of credits.  The University’s legal stands on examination malpractices and drug abuse were also explained. The induction programme came to a close by 12 PM and Dr. N. Lakshmi Priya, member of the  College Council, formally thanked the students and the members of the faculty.
