Mahatma Gandhi College is a government-aided college, affiliated to University of Kerala. The admission process is primarily online and follows a Centralized Allotment Process (CAP). Candidates begin by registering on the official portal (admissions.keralauniversity.ac.in). After registration, candidates select preferred colleges and courses. The university releases trial and subsequent allotment lists, allowing edits before final seat allocation. Selected candidates pay fees online, download the allotment memo, and submit documents (mark sheets, certificates) for verification at the college.
Admissions are carried out in different quotas, viz. General Merit, Community Quota, Management Quota and Sports Quota. In General Merit category, reservations are provided for students belonging to SC/ST communities, Differently Abled students, Transgender students, etc. Wards of Ex-service people and students who hold relevant certificates of merit in NSS/NCC/SPC activities in 10+2 level, will be eligible for additional weightage of marks.
Admissions to all quotas are done directly by the University, except to the Management Quota seats which are allotted by the Head Office, Nair Service Society.

പ്രവേശനം വിവിധ ക്വോട്ടകളിലാണ് നടത്തുന്നത്: ജനറൽ മെറിറ്റ്, കമ്മ്യൂണിറ്റി ക്വോട്ട, മാനേജ്മെന്റ് ക്വോട്ട, സ്പോർട്സ് ക്വോട്ട. ജനറൽ മെറിറ്റ് വിഭാഗത്തിൽ, എസ്‌സി/എസ്‌ടി വിഭാഗങ്ങൾ, വിഭിന്നശേഷി വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ, ട്രാൻസ്‌ജെൻഡർ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ എന്നിവർക്ക് സംവരണം ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും. മുൻ സൈനികരുടെ മക്കൾ, 10+2 തലത്തിൽ NSS/NCC/SPC പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളിൽ മെറിറ്റ് സർട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റ് ഉള്ള വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ എന്നിവർക്ക് അധിക മാർക്കിന്റെ വെയ്റ്റേജിന് അർഹതയുണ്ട്.
മാനേജ്മെന്റ് ക്വോട്ട സീറ്റുകൾ ഒഴികെ എല്ലാ ക്വോട്ടകളിലേക്കുള്ള പ്രവേശനവും സർവകലാശാല നേരിട്ടാണ് നടത്തുന്നത്. മാനേജ്മെന്റ് ക്വോട്ട സീറ്റുകൾ നായർ സർവീസ് സൊസൈറ്റിയുടെ ഹെഡ് ഓഫീസായിരിക്കും അലോട്ട് ചെയ്യുന്നത്.
A candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination/Vocational Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Government of Kerala or an equivalent examination recognised by the Academic Council of the University of Kerala.

Mahatma Gandhi College has been accredited by NAAC at ‘A’ level in the first phase which was retained in the second phase of accreditation as well. Mahatma Gandhi College offers 13 Undergraduate and 10 Postgraduate courses. After the implementation of FYUGP system, there is a very diverse academic pathways available for UG students.
