DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE
Established in the year 1980, the Department of Political Science is one of the earliest departments of Mahatma Gandhi College, stands as an epitome of quality education with the wide spectrum of activities and subjects included in it makes it outstanding and contemporary. Under the Choice Based Credit and Semester Scheme complementary courses like Introduction to Political Science, Indian Government and Politics, Dynamics of Indian Politics, and International Politics, assimilated the novel trends in different areas of the subject. The introduction of the Four Year Under Graduate Programme (FYUGP) in 2024-2025 added more diversity to the courses and became immensely relevant and contemporary in many respects. The Discipline Specific Minor courses offered by the department in semesters one, two and three under FYUGP are Indian Constitution: An Introduction, Human Rights, Indian Constitution at Work, Issues in Indian Politics, Dynamics of Indian Political System and Contemporary Issues in Global Politics. Value Addition Courses offered by the department in Semester four are Constitutional Values and Electoral Literacy. The Skill Enhancement Course offered by the department in Semester four is Parliamentary Practices and Procedures.
