Department of Hindi was established in 1964. The Department is offering quality education programmes and it facilitates for intensive study and research in different areas of Hindi Language and Literature and its applied and functional aspects such as translation, media, comparative studies, language technology, various contemporary discourses etc. Syllabus of the Hindi Department is based on the Model Syllabus of University Grants Commission and updated time to time in consultation with experts with due approval of Academic Bodies. Faculty members of the department have designed and floated courses on contemporary relevance and emerging areas which are offered as optional and soft-core courses. Some of these courses are interdisciplinary in nature and aimed to nurture the skills of the students for their career development. Department is playing a vital role in spreading E-Literacy in the area of computing in Indian Languages and adopting innovative practices in teaching, learning and evaluation process. ICT integrated teaching, seminars, interactive classes, group discussions, internal and external assessment practices are enriching the teaching and learning. The Department of Hindi is one of the Research departments. The department imparts sound base and result oriented coaching to the students using modern linguistic tools. The well stocked library, use of audio visual aids and the hard work of a team of highly qualified faculty have enabled the dept. to maintain a high standard in Hindi teaching. The Department is also providing three Add-on Courses Viz. 1. Spoken Hindi, 2. Organic Farming and 3. Yoga for Humanity. An effective teaching learning and tutorial system is in force in the department. Test papers, assignments and group discussions are organized to monitor the academic performance of the students. The teachers work in unison and their team work is the secret of the success of the department. The department also holds the distinction of every member of the faculty having PhD degree. For motivating our students, the department offers various prizes and endowments to the toppers. Department offers intensive training to students for appearing competitive examinations including UGC NET Eminent academic and writer Late Dr. Chandrasekharan Nair was a member of our faculty and led this dept. for long. He became the decorated Chairman of the Hindi Sahitya Academy. Dr.J.Ramachandran Nair, another renowned academician, who contributed a lot for the language, also served our department for many years. The department is proud of its alumni and the PTA which meets regularly and discuss academic as well as other matters for betterment of the students. Feedback from the students and parents are collected and valuable suggestions from them are incorporated in the strategy of the functioning of the department. The department provides the best ambience for Hindi learning.
